TaleTiles is designed for children ages 3 to 10. Because it is made for children, before you use TaleTiles with your child, we want to tell you clearly what information the app and related beta services may collect from you and your child, where that information is stored, when it is processed on your device or sent off your device, how it is used, who helps us operate the service, how long information is kept, the choices and rights you have, and how you may consent to or decline those practices.

This notice is intended to give you the direct parental notice required before collection, use, and disclosure of covered information in connection with the TaleTiles beta program. It summarizes the key points in plain language, and should be read together with our Privacy Policy and the TaleTiles Beta Test Agreement. Your parental consent is obtained through the single in-app acceptance flow presented before child-related information is collected.

Section 01

Who We Are

TaleTiles is made and operated by Fable Dynamics, LLC, a Colorado limited liability company. Fable Dynamics, LLC is the operator of TaleTiles for purposes of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, or COPPA. If you have questions about this notice, want to exercise your parental rights, or want to withdraw consent, you may contact us using the details listed at the end of this notice.

Section 02

What Information TaleTiles Can Collect or Process

From you, the parent

We may collect your email address, name if you choose to provide one, mailing address or telephone number if you provide them for beta administration or support, and the contents of your communications with us, including beta sign-up information, support requests, and feedback. We also may collect basic app, device, session, install, and diagnostic information used to operate, secure, support, and improve the beta program, generally tied to device, app, or install identifiers rather than to your name.

About your child, only if you choose to enter it

A first name, a “sounds like” pronunciation hint, and a pronoun or gender preference (if you skip it, stories use they and them). You also may set role selections, age range, and content or parental control settings. If you use TaleTiles to create and save stories, the app also may process and store related story-play information, generated story text, generated narration audio, and saved stories or saved audio on your device. In the current beta design, the child name, pronunciation aid, pronoun or gender preference, role selection, saved stories, saved audio, parental control settings, and related story-play information are generally stored locally on your device rather than on TaleTiles' backend, unless you voluntarily submit related content to us as feedback or support or a future feature is separately enabled with any required notice and consent. These items are optional in the sense that you decide whether to enter or save them, although certain requested features depend on that information to function as intended.

When you scan tiles

A photo or image capture of the physical tiles on the board. This is intended to be a picture of the wooden tiles and their arrangement, not of your child. We use that image to recognize the tiles you selected and convert them into a tile list for story creation. In the current beta design, the tile-layout image may be processed transiently for scanning and recognition, including by a designated service provider, and is not intended to be stored by TaleTiles as part of a child profile.

If you choose to send feedback

If you choose to send feedback through TaleTiles, including feedback on a saved story, we may collect the feedback you submit, the related story text or other content you choose to include, and associated information needed to review the submission and improve the product.

Inactive or future features

Certain features discussed in our product materials may not be active in the current family beta experience. For example, a future family or grandparent recording feature may, if enabled in a later version, send story scripts that may contain a child's name, and related recordings, to a backend service for storage and playback. That feature is not part of the default current beta experience for families, and if we materially expand collection, storage, or disclosure practices for an active feature, we will provide any additional notice or consent required before using that feature.

During app use, support, and beta testing

We may collect limited telemetry, diagnostics, error, crash, cost, and support information relating to use of the TaleTiles beta, such as session activity, install or device identifiers, story-run events, tile count, outcomes, app version, and similar technical information needed to operate, troubleshoot, secure, and improve the service. We intend this information to exclude child names and story content except where you voluntarily submit story content or related information as part of feedback or support.

Section 03

How We Use It

We use this information to let you and your child create, narrate, save, replay, and manage stories; to scan and recognize tile layouts; to personalize story text and narration if you choose to provide child details; to store and use local app settings and saved content on your device; to keep the app working, secure, and reliable; to administer the beta program; to provide support and communicate with you; to review feedback; and to evaluate and improve the system. We do not use your child's information to serve behavioral or targeted advertising, we do not sell personal information, and we do not intend to send your child's name or saved story content to our analytics or crash reporting tools except if you voluntarily submit such content as part of a feedback or support request.

Section 04

Who We Share It With

To create a story, if you enter your child's first name, pronunciation hint, pronoun, or similar child details, those details may be included in the prompts or content needed to generate story text and narration. In the current beta configuration, Anthropic is the default story-text generation provider and receives the child name and pronoun as part of the story prompt, Inworld is the active narration provider and receives the story narration text, which may contain the child's name, and OpenAI may receive similar story-generation inputs only if Fable Dynamics enables a PIN-gated internal testing configuration that is not part of the default beta family experience. For tile scanning, OpenAI also receives the tile-layout image for recognition of the physical tiles, and that scan is designed not to include the child name, pronoun, or an image of the child. These providers act as service providers or contractors that help us operate the requested TaleTiles functions.

If you choose to send us feedback on a saved story, that story text and related feedback information may be sent to and stored on our backend service provider, currently Supabase, so we can review the submission and improve the product. We also may use service providers that help us operate backend services, diagnostics, analytics, crash reporting, support, communications, and beta administration, including form and email systems used for beta sign-up and support. Those providers may receive limited information needed to perform those functions on our behalf. In the current beta design, TaleTiles is intended to keep child names and saved story content off our own backend except where you voluntarily submit such content as feedback or support or where a future feature is separately enabled with any required notice and consent. Additional details regarding our service providers and privacy practices are available in our Privacy Policy.

Section 05

Where Information Is Kept and How Long We Keep It

In the current beta design, your child's name, pronunciation aid, pronoun or gender preference, saved stories, saved audio, and related local settings are generally kept on your device rather than in a child profile on our servers. They remain there until you remove a character, delete a story or saved content, clear the app, or uninstall the app, subject to any device-level backup behavior then in effect. Information sent off your device for tile scanning, story generation, or narration is processed by the applicable service provider in order to deliver the requested function. If you voluntarily submit story feedback, support content, or similar materials to us, those submissions may be stored on our backend or in applicable analytics, beta administration, form, support, or communications systems for a limited period consistent with our retention practices and then deleted or de-identified when no longer needed for the beta, support, security, legal, or product-improvement purposes for which they were collected.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information collected in connection with TaleTiles, including measures intended to limit access to authorized personnel and contractors, maintain appropriate service-provider controls, and reduce unnecessary collection and retention. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to safeguard information appropriate to the nature of the beta service and the information involved.

Section 06

Your Choices and Rights

If we later activate a feature that materially changes what child information is collected, stored remotely, or disclosed, we will provide any additional notice and request any additional consent required before that feature is used with your child.

To make a request to review, delete, or stop further collection or use of information, or to withdraw consent, email cole@taletiles.com with the subject line “Privacy Request TaleTiles.” We will take reasonable steps to verify your identity and authority as a parent or legal guardian before acting on the request, and we will respond within 30 days.

Section 07

Your Consent

We ask for your consent before your child's information is collected, used, or disclosed in connection with the TaleTiles beta. You provide that consent through the single in-app acceptance flow presented before child-related information is collected, and then by choosing to proceed with beta participation and, if you wish, entering child-related information and generating stories. By doing so, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and are the parent or legal guardian of the child, or otherwise have the legal authority to provide this consent, and you authorize Fable Dynamics, LLC to collect, use, process, store, and disclose information as described in this notice and in our Privacy Policy for the operation of TaleTiles and the beta program.

If you do not agree, please do not enter information about your child, do not generate personalized stories that use child information, and do not continue beta participation. If you have questions before consenting, please contact us at cole@taletiles.com.

Section 08

How to Reach Us

If anything here is unclear, if you want to know what we have on file about your family, if you want it deleted, or if you want to withdraw consent, please reach out.
