Almost entirely. You (the parent) use the app to scan the board and start the story — takes about 10 seconds. Once the story begins, the phone can go in your pocket. Your child's experience is completely physical and audio-only.
After your child arranges their tiles, tap "Send to Family" instead of playing immediately. A link is generated — send it via iMessage, WhatsApp, or email. Your family member taps the link, sees the full story text, and records themselves reading it right in their phone's browser. No app download required. When they submit, you get a notification and can play the recording at bedtime.
TaleTiles is designed for children ages 3–10. The tile illustrations are simple and intuitive enough for younger children, while story complexity scales with the age settings you choose in the app.
Every story is uniquely generated based on the specific tiles placed and their positions on the board. A dragon in slot 1 vs. slot 3 creates a different narrative role. With 24 tiles and 9 board positions, the combinations are effectively endless.
